PENNSYLVANIA IRON MAN TOURNAMENT PURPOSE AND TOURNAMENT STATUS The Iron Man Tournament is a supplemental postseason tournament program established by Pennsylvania Babe Ruth Baseball to provide additional competitive opportunities for eligible Cal Ripken Baseball players and teams. The purpose of the Iron Man Tournament is to promote player development, increase participation, strengthen local leagues, and provide meaningful postseason experiences for players who may not otherwise participate in the traditional Babe Ruth League International Tournament Trail. The Iron Man Tournament is separate and distinct from the official Babe Ruth League International Tournament Trail that culminates in Regional and World Series competition. Participation in the Iron Man Tournament does not constitute advancement within the official Babe Ruth League International Tournament Trail. The Pennsylvania Iron Man Tournament is administered by Pennsylvania Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken Baseball. Teams advancing from Pennsylvania may be eligible to participate in the Middle Atlantic Region Iron Man Tournament competition, subject to applicable regional rules and eligibility requirements. Unless specifically modified herein, Official Babe Ruth League, Inc. Playing Rules shall govern all games conducted during the Iron Man Tournament. TEAM ELIGIBILITY The Iron Man Tournament is intended for secondary or developmental tournament teams representing leagues that actively participate in the Babe Ruth League and Cal Ripken Baseball tournament programs. To be eligible for participation in the Iron Man Tournament, a league must also field a Primary ("A") Tournament Team that is entered, or intended to enter, the official Babe Ruth League or Cal Ripken Baseball Tournament Trail during the same season. The Primary ("A") Tournament Team shall be considered the league's official tournament team participating in the Babe Ruth League International Tournament Trail. The Iron Man Tournament Team shall be considered the league's secondary or developmental tournament team. The Iron Man Tournament is not intended to provide an additional championship opportunity for a league's Primary ("A") Tournament Team. Participating leagues are expected to enter teams in the spirit and intent of the program. ROSTER REQUIREMENTS Although the Iron Man Tournament is not part of the official Babe Ruth League International Tournament Trail, all participating teams shall be organized and rostered in accordance with the age eligibility requirements and player eligibility standards established by Babe Ruth League, Inc. for the applicable division of play. Players listed on an Iron Man Tournament roster should primarily be players who are not expected to participate on the league's Primary ("A") Tournament Team. Each player may be rostered on only one tournament team at any given time during the tournament season. PLAYER ADVANCEMENT AND ROSTER MOVEMENT The Iron Man Tournament is intended to support player development and provide opportunities for advancement within a league's tournament program. A player originally rostered on an Iron Man Tournament Team may be advanced to the league's Primary ("A") Tournament Team at any time during the tournament season due to player development, injury replacement, player availability issues, or other legitimate roster needs. Such advancement shall be considered a normal and encouraged outcome of the Iron Man Tournament program and shall not, by itself, affect the eligibility of the league or player. Once a player has been added to a league's Primary ("A") Tournament Team roster, that player shall no longer be eligible to participate in the Iron Man Tournament during that tournament season. Players rostered on a league's Primary ("A") Tournament Team may not be reassigned to an Iron Man Tournament Team during the same tournament season. The Pennsylvania State Commissioner reserves the right to review all roster movements and determine eligibility in situations where roster changes appear inconsistent with the spirit and intent of the Iron Man Tournament program. AUTHORITY AND INTERPRETATION The Pennsylvania State Commissioner shall have final authority regarding all questions of eligibility, roster composition, tournament participation, and rule interpretation. The Pennsylvania State Commissioner reserves the right to grant exceptions, deny participation, or take corrective action when necessary to preserve the competitive balance, integrity, and developmental purpose of the Iron Man Tournament. All decisions of the Pennsylvania State Commissioner regarding Iron Man Tournament eligibility and participation shall be final.
